Started in 2012, October 4 was designated as Manufacturing (MFG) Day in an attempt to increase the public knowledge of manufacturing.A ThomasNet.com annual Industry Barometer Report found that the manufacturing industry is not attracting skilled workers from the younger generations in large enough numbers to sustain the growth of this industry that is vital to the economic security of this country. MFG Day gives manufacturers an opportunity to open up their doors and offer tours and education to the public about the technological advances and other realities of the industry.
